House Committee

Symbolism of Victoria's commitment to strengthening ties among its members so that each residence and PSO individually and as a collective, is enriched and strengthened through its involvement.
The role of a house-committee member is to integrate new first year students and to orientate them in their new surroundings. They also offer academic and emotional support to their members, while at the same time providing a platform for social integration. The House Committee is responsible for:
- Determining the strategic direction of the house
- The administration of the PSO
- The promotion of Silene’s values
- Representing the university and encouraging leadership roles
- Complying with all the provisions in the house Constitution

The senior’s committee serve as the right hand of the HK by assisting with welcoming and Silene events. Senior's comm are also each allocated a faculty in which they provide tutoring assistance for first years. This is a good leadership stepping stone in becoming HK. The senior’s committee is primarily responsible for:
- Assistance during welcoming period
- Promote participation
- Build and work the stalletjie for vensters
- Provide tutoring assistance for first years
- Attend a minimum of one meeting per term
The PSO Coordinator plays a very important role in the leadership of the PSO and inspires value-driven management, academic excellence, diversity of ideas, meaningful community interaction, critical citizenship and the establishment of international networks.
The PSO Coordinator acts as a link between the University and the House Committee. Acting out of this capacity, she applies the University rules and regulations, where and when it is needed. All leadership structures in the organization fall under the authority of the PSO Coordinator.

Mentors are the direct link between the first years and the HK. They take the role of a big sister who guides and advises. The mentors strongly reflect the house and are a crucial part in ensuring the success of the PSO. Mentors are responsible for the following:
- Accompanying a mentor group through the welcoming period
- Providing mentees with all necessary information during their transition as a student
- Having mentor sessions which follow the BeWell programme.
- Providing emotional and academic support for mentees throughout the year.

First Year's Committee serves as an initial platform for first year students to engage in leadership. They provide a link between our current first years and the HK by being involved in decision making and assisting with portfolios while having an opinion of a first year. This position allows first years to know and understand leadership structures. The first year's committee is primarily responsible for:
- Planning the First Year's Dance
- Shadowing each HK Portfolio
- Assist with Silene planning and events
- Attend weekly meetings and sit in on HK Meetings
