"in iunctum nostum vires" - in unity , our strength.
Symbolism of Victoria's commitment to strengthening ties among its members so that each residence and PSO individually and as a collective, is enriched and strengthened through its involvement.
Culture plays a crucial part in every Stellenbosch student’s life. It creates a platform for our ladies to express themselves creatively and to inspire innovation. We seek to embrace and get to know the culture diversity that we have in our community by having culture evenings and culture-related activities throughout the year. Our goal is to encourage our ladies to participate and persue their passions of art, directing, debating, music, photography and other cultural activities by providing them with the opportunities to do so through various events hosted within and outside the university.
Molassesêr
Through the years, this has served as an introduction to student culture on campus. This event helps with community interaction through the "serloop" and creates the opportunity to creatively express personal ideas. It takes place early in the year where a large group of first years from our PSO that walk around and sing to different residences and PSO. The goal isn’t to be musically perfect; it is for the first years to meet new people and to enjoy a fun activity together as they put stories into song.
Toneelfees
Toneelfees provides an opportunity for personal development and growth. It is an important element in the creating of activities for students who do not study drama (or do), but have a passion for acting and the dramatic arts. It creates a platform where actors and directors can experiment and use their talents. Students get to meet new members of other residences and PSO's as we will be paired up with another PSO or residence to compete in this competition.
Kleinsêr
The biggest culture event on campus and forms the biggest part of culture at the university. Groups consisting of a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 20 people from all the different residences and PSO’s on campus compete by singing and dancing in the ATKV Kleinser competition. The top male and female groups from our campus will then go through to the national competition where they will compete against groups from other universities in South Africa. It is a great opportunity to meet new friends and experience a different side of Stellenbosch.
